Bio

Thomas Termaat is the founder and creative captain of De Franse Kamer (DFK), an award-winning digital advertising studio in Amsterdam with 15+ years of craft in display banners, rich media, and Digital Out of Home. His client roster reads like a Dutch blue-chip roll call — Samsung, KLM, Booking.com, Holland Casino, Rabobank — and his studio has the Effie and IF Awards to back it up. He runs the operation out of Jacob Bontiusplaats in Amsterdam with the energy of someone who has never slowed down.

These days Thomas is deep in AI. He has rebuilt DFK's production pipeline around node-based AI workflows — image and video generation, prompt engineering, character reference sheets — and launched an AI DOOH product that brings generative media to out-of-home advertising. He teaches these workflows publicly, co-presenting at events like VIA Nederland's Skill Sprint, and is active in the AI Amsterdam (AI AM) network. The pivot isn't a gimmick; it's a studio operator betting his craft on where the medium is going.

Before the studio, before the pixels, Thomas was Joker — an Amsterdam graffiti writer in the mid-1980s, part of the legendary USA and CTK crews, working in a New York–Amsterdam style that landed his work in the 'Graffiti: New York meets the Dam' exhibition. That origin in street-level visual culture still shows up in how he moves: high output, community-first, unafraid of spectacle. He co-organised TAG's first AI Hackathon in Amsterdam — 100 builders, real startup pitches, tier-1 VC judges, and sumo-suit electric scooter racing — and called it 'peak founder event.'
