Bio

Josef Moucachen is an Amsterdam-based indie developer and the mind behind NameQuick, a macOS utility that uses AI to rename and organize files based on their actual contents. Operating under his company Synthropy, he builds tools that sit at the intersection of local AI, privacy, and everyday productivity — the kind of software that quietly makes a computer feel smarter.

NameQuick reflects a clear point of view: file chaos is a solvable problem, and the solution should respect user choice. The app supports both cloud models like OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini and fully local LLMs via Ollama, letting users pick between raw capability and on-device privacy. It ships with OCR for PDFs and images, real-time folder watching, and a preview-before-apply workflow — the details of someone who has thought carefully about how automation should behave around irreversible actions.

Before going indie, Josef worked as a Growth & AI Engineer at Siemens in Amsterdam — a background that shows in NameQuick's technical depth. He actively documents the broader file organization ecosystem through the NameQuick blog, writing on OCR workflows, invoice processing, and Mac automation. The app has evolved visibly since launch, with at least one third-party reviewer noting significant changes — a signal of someone iterating in response to real use.

What I'm building

I’m building NameQuick, a macOS app that helps people quickly rename and organize messy files using AI. It works with both cloud AI models and local LLMs, so users can choose between powerful cloud-based intelligence and more private, on-device processing depending on their needs. NameQuick looks at the contents of files like PDFs, screenshots, receipts, invoices, and documents, then suggests clear, useful filenames that make everything easier to search, sort, and understand later.

Why TAG

I’m looking for a coworking space where I can genuinely connect with people in the AI community — somewhere to talk, share ideas, ideate on new projects, and take part in what others are building. I’m currently working on www.namequick.app as a founder, and I’d love to be in a space with builders, creatives, and AI-focused founders who are excited to exchange ideas, collaborate, and push each other forward.
