Privacy statement

This page explains what personal data TAG collects when you come to one of our events, fill in a form on tag.space or become a member, what we do with it, and what you can ask of us. Questions or requests: ben@tag.space.

Who we are

TAG (To Achieve Greatness) is a community and workspace for builders in Amsterdam, run by TAG B.V. (KvK 42189402), Jacob Bontiusplaats 9, 1018 LL Amsterdam. TAG B.V. is responsible (the “controller”) for the personal data described here. When we run an event together with a partner, such as SAAF, the event page says so.

Events

Registering

Our events are listed on Luma. When you register we receive your name, email address and the answers you give, including your LinkedIn profile. The LinkedIn profile is required: we look at it to check that the event is a good fit for you, and we only use it to review your registration.

We share the guest list with the partners organising the event with us and with the host venue, only to run the event and for building access. Some events only show the address to approved guests.

On the day and afterwards

We record who checks in. We send practical emails before the event and a follow-up afterwards; every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link. If you are a member, events you checked in to can appear on your profile (see Members).

Photos and video are taken at our events and used in recaps on tag.space, on partner sites and on social media. Tell us at check-in, or email ben@tag.space afterwards, if you don't want to be photographed or want a photo taken down.

Updates from us and partners

Only if you tick the box for it when you register do we send you news about future TAG events, or share your name and email with a named partner for their updates. Those boxes are never pre-ticked, and you can withdraw at any time.

Forms on tag.space

  • Join and tours: name, email and LinkedIn profile, so we can review your application or book your tour. A tour booking creates a calendar invite for you.
  • Host an event: your name, email, phone number, organisation and the event details, so we can assess and plan the event.
  • Summer camp: your application answers and, for teams, the names and email addresses of your teammates. Please only add teammates who know you are applying.
  • Day pass: name and email for the pass, and payment details handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
  • Hackathon judging and submissions: team names, member names and the links you submit.

To stop spam, forms also store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address (not the address itself) and your browser type.

Members

Your account and contract

Your name, email and password (stored hashed), plus the identity and billing details we need for your membership contract and invoices: address, and company name, KvK and VAT number if you sign up as a business. Payments run through Stripe.

Your public profile

Every member has a profile page at tag.space/profile/your-name. It shows your name, role, photo, what you are building, the links you added, when you joined, the parts of your builder profile you set to visible, and the TAG events you checked in to. Search engines can find these pages. You can turn your public profile off at any time in your profile settings; the page then disappears from tag.space and from search engines.

Builder profile and community features

To write your builder profile, introduce members to each other and suggest weekly questions, we read the public pages you link to: your LinkedIn posts, X, GitHub and website. LinkedIn and X posts are collected daily through Apify. The text is summarised by AI (Anthropic's Claude) on a server TAG runs. You can switch off being featured in introductions and weekly questions in the portal, and hide each section of your builder profile.

Photos and portraits

Photos you upload are stored privately, with location data removed. We asked every member by email whether their photo may be shown on tag.space, with a deadline of 22 October 2026. If you said no, your photo is not shown. If you did not answer by the deadline, your photo comes off the public pages. You can change your answer in your profile whenever you like.

A stylised portrait (an AI-generated image made from your photo with fal.ai and Tripo) is a separate question in your profile. Building access passes are arranged by sending your name and email to the building manager.

Why we are allowed to

  • To run what you signed up for (an event, tour, day pass or membership): we need the data to provide it.
  • Legitimate interest: reviewing registrations, keeping our events and building safe, stopping spam, event photos, public member profiles, and community features built from public information. You can object to any of these at any time.
  • Consent: news and partner updates, your photo on tag.space, and stylised portraits. You can withdraw consent whenever you like.
  • Legal duty: keeping invoices and payment records for the tax authorities.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. These services process it on our behalf:

  • Supabase (database and accounts, hosted in the EU) and Vercel (website hosting)
  • Luma (event registration and check-in)
  • Resend (sending email, including whether an email was opened or clicked)
  • Stripe (payments and invoices)
  • Google (calendar invites for tours)
  • Anthropic, fal.ai and Tripo (AI text and images for member features), and Apify (collecting public posts)

Besides these, we share data with event partners and venues as described under Events, with the building manager for access passes, and with authorities when the law requires it. Some of these services are based outside the EU, mainly in the United States. In those cases the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

When we no longer need data for the purpose it was collected for, we take it out of use and archive it: it is no longer shown anywhere or used, and only TAG can access it. You can ask us to delete archived data at any time.

  • Event registrations: archived 12 months after the event.
  • Applications that don't lead to membership: archived after 12 months.
  • Day-pass details: archived 90 days after the pass is used or expires.
  • Member data: for as long as you are a member, then archived. Invoices and payment records are kept for 7 years, as Dutch law requires.
  • News and partner updates: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.

Cookies

tag.space uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Emails from us can record whether they were opened or a link was clicked, so we can tell whether they arrive.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give it to you in a reusable format. You can also object to uses based on legitimate interest and withdraw any consent. Email ben@tag.space and we will reply within a month.

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

When we change this statement, we update the date at the top. For important changes we let members know by email.
