Bio
Roel Leenders is a full-stack product engineer based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, working remotely as the first engineering hire at Scripe — an AI-powered LinkedIn content workspace founded in Berlin. He joined in January 2025 and has since shipped a document-to-post upload flow, a rebuilt AI text editor (Scripe 2.0), a carousel editor trained on 10,000+ LinkedIn carousels, the Scripe mobile app v1, and Scripe 4.0 — the last as one of two engineers on a six-person team.
Before Scripe, Roel contributed to Luna.ai, an AI cold-email and sales prospecting tool, working on community features and participating in summer-release cycles. He studied in South Korea and has spent extended time working nomadically, including three months in Thailand. He frames his own motivation simply: building with Legos as a kid, building with code now.
Roel is a vocal advocate for product-minded engineering — engineers owning outcomes over tickets. He applies frameworks like Shape Up cycles and 'vitamins vs painkillers' feedback triage to decide what to build, and writes candidly about where AI-assisted development hits its limits, particularly for novel UI problems that require genuine design reasoning rather than pattern completion.
